Got a question about teeth whitening?
We’ve got answers!
01. How long does a treatment take?
It depends on whether it’s an individual treatment or whether we are treating your friends too. As a general rule, we need an hour per person to achieve maximum results, but please allow for 90 minutes for the whole appointment. If you have a group booking, you’ll need to allow for some extra time.
02. Is teeth whitening suitable for everyone?
If you have teeth, you can have them whitened! However, if you have gum disease, are awaiting dental work, under 16 years old, or pregnant or breastfeeding, then we’d rather you got your teeth whitened another time.
03. What results can I expect?
Prepare to be dazzled! The whiteness directly correlates to how discoloured your teeth are before we begin treatment, but generally you can get your teeth between 5 and 14 shades lighter.
The more stained your teeth, the more dramatic the results will be.
The results are also dependent on how regularly you have a teeth whitening procedure or use home whitening treatments. When whitening is done every six months, it is considered a maintenance procedure, and though the results will be less dramatic, you will still see the difference!
04. How does teeth whitening work?
Teeth whitening, whether done by a dentist or us, will not whiten your tooth enamel. Instead, the process works by bleaching the stains on the surface of your teeth. This is why regular maintenance is usually required for best results.
05. Is teeth whitening safe?
We offer the latest whitening gel approved for use in Australia (consisting of 6% hydrogen peroxide) - which means it’s of extremely high quality. Our aftercare pens feature 18% carbamide peroxide.
Our non-touch procedure is completely hygienic, meaning we never touch you or your mouth, only the equipment.
The high quality gel we use is gentle and safe on teeth and it is very rare to experience any problems with our products.
06. Does the teeth whitening treatment cause sensitivity?
Very rarely do our clients experience minor sensitivity while having the treatment or in the days following.
07. Can I get my teeth whitened if I have crowns or veneers?
Our teeth whitening process is safe for crowns and veneers, although these will not whiten during the process. However, we can help you match your natural teeth to the same colour shade as your crown or veneers.
08. How long will a teeth whitening treatment last?
To maintain your white smile , we recommend a top-up treatment about 4-6 weeks after your initial treatment to enhance your results.
It really depends on how well you look after your teeth but, with a top-up treatment, your teeth should maintain their bright white appearance for about six months.
Diet and lifestyle will impact how long the whitening effect lasts. Smoking and drinking coffee, tea, fruit juice and sodas will eventually re-stain your teeth.
We recommend brushing your teeth twice a day, flossing regularly and drinking lots of water to keep your teeth sparkling for longer.
09. Should teeth whitening be done by a dentist?
We don’t think so!
Teeth whitening is a purely cosmetic process and not a dental procedure. The products we use are gentler and as effective as those used by a dentist. All of our products are Australian compliant and produced to the highest standards.
Teeth whitening, no matter who does it, bleaches stains from the surface of the teeth - it does not whiten the enamel.
So why not avoid the dentist’s chair, put your feet up at home and get your teeth whitened for a more affordable price?
10. Where can I receive my treatment?
We are purely a mobile business, providing the flexibility of treating you in the comfort of your own home or office.
11. What if I live outside the 30km radius of Melbourne CBD?
Our mobile service caters to Melbourne residents who live in a 30km radius of Melbourne CBD.
However, we are willing to travel to clients outside of this area for an additional travel fee. Please contact us to discuss this.
12. If I need to cancel and reschedule what happens to my deposit?
Should you need to reschedule your appointment, you are welcome to do so provided you give more than 24 hours notice.
Your $50 deposit will roll over to your rescheduled appointment, which can be made within a six month period.
However, the $50 deposit is non-refundable and non-transferable if cancellation is within that 24hr period of your appointment, or if you change your mind. (Please see below for COVID exceptions).
13. What is your COVID policy?
If you are a COVID close contact, isolating, or have COVID-like symptoms, please contact us as soon as possible.
While 24 hours notice is required for all appointment cancellations & rescheduling, this will be waived if proof of being a close contact or awaiting results can be provided.
This can be emailed to Olivia at enquiry@teethwhiteningmelbourne.com .
Cancellations with less than 24 hours notice that aren’t able to provide the above will forfeit the non-refundable booking deposit.
Thank you for your compliance and understanding during the COVID-19 pandemic. We are doing our best to cater for everyone as we enter a 'new normal'.
